Facts About IP Address

What Is an IP Address ?

IP addresses are unique identifiers that allow devices to communicate with each other over the internet and local networks. IP stands for Internet Protocol, which is a set of rules that govern how data is communicated between networks. IP addresses are essential for the internet to function because they allow devices to map the web and send data to the correct location.

For example, when you request a website, your computer uses its IP address to connect to a network router, which then connects to the web server where the website is located. The web server then sends the website information back to your computer.

IP addresses can also help identify specific users and their locations. For example, retailers can use IP addresses to cross-check your geolocation with your payment method's mailing address. However, IP addresses can also be used for nefarious purposes, such as by hackers to install malware on your devices or by cybercriminals to put you at risk of Denial of Service attacks.
